And the Funko announcements keep coming!

Two years ago, Funko unveiled its Funko Pop! Directors line immortalizing acclaimed and popular filmmakers, particularly in the nerd industry genre, with their own vinyl figures. Thus far, Funko has produced Paul Feig, James Gunn, and Guillermo del Toro. Today, Funko announced that director James Wan would be latest auteur added to the line and available as an Exclusive at SDCC.

Best known for his work in the horror genre with films like Saw and Insidious, Wan has been instrumental in launching the current Conjuring film series and its various spin-offs. Moreover,  Wan has established himself as a bankable director outside of horror with Furious 7, the highest grossing movie in the Fast and the Furious franchise. This December, Wan will once again be exploring yet another genre and helming the ship of another major franchise when Aquaman hits screens.

Between the debut of the first trailer and now this James Wan Funko Pop! figure, it’s fairly obvious that Warner Bros. is pushing Aquaman very hard at this year’s SDCC. With both Marvel Studios and Game of Thrones skipping Hall H this year, Warner Bros. is clearly hoping to take advantage of the void and generate some buzz.
