With Savage Hearts, Aubrey Sitterson declares he clearly isn’t done with your shelves for this year as he has a new project on the way from Dark Horse Comics – and this one has romance.
Joining Sitterson for Savage Hearts will be artist and co-creator Jed Dougherty, colorist Lovern Kindzierski, and letterer Taylor Esposito. The first issue will be canoodling local comic shop shelves July 14.
Savage Hearts will slide in alongside Sitterson’s other scheduled Dark Horse limited series, misfit caper The Worst Dudes – with Tony Gregori, Kindzierski, and Esposito – which begins June 2.
Of course, in seemingly typical Aubrey Sitterson fashion, one genre isn’t enough for one book as, according to Dark Horse PR: “Savage Hearts is equal parts steamy romance, gut-busting comedy, and heart-pounding action.” Yum.
Sounds curious? Try the five-issue series’ synopsis:
“In the tradition of your favorite will-they-won’t-they romances, Savage Hearts introduces readers to a brawny
barbarian bruiser with a broken heart and a lonely beastman who talks to dinosaurs. What happens when they team up against an evil sorcerer? Sides and skulls alike get split and romance blossoms in this all-new jungle fantasy mini-series!”
Also, because Sitterson is not done – the print edition will exclusively have a backup comic where Sitterson and artist Goran Gligović take their shot at reimagining Robin Hood in No Kings, No Masters.
Sitterson had this to say about his latest, latest series:
“I can’t imagine restricting myself to a single genre. That’s why I’m so fortunate to have the support of Dark Horse Comics and editor Brett Israel, whether it’s on fight comic soap operas, raunchy sci-fi mysteries, or sexy jungle romcoms.”
On being dragged along for this romantic and bonkers tea-cup ride, Dougherty seems quite eager:
“I am excited for readers to get their eyes on this barbaric romance! It has muscular action, piquant comedy, simmering emotion, and was a pleasure to draw!”
So yeah – July 14, 2021. Feel free to pre-order or race to your LCS for your copy. But be COVID safe. And wear protection.
