In an announcement on StarWars.com, a series of variant covers featuring LGBTQ+ Star Wars characters was revealed, with the first – a portrait of Sana Starros by Jan Bazaldua and colored by Rachelle Rosenberg – appearing as a variant for Doctor Aphra #11, arriving on June 30th, 2021.
Star Wars Pride Covers
In addition to the portrait of Starros as a variant for Doctor Aphra #11, the announcement – which you can read in its entirety below – promises that several of your favorite Star Wars characters will be getting their own variants by some of the most exciting artists working in comics.
These will include Rae Sloane by J.J. Kirby on the cover of Darth Vader #13, Doctor Aphra by Babs Tarr on War of the Bounty Hunters #1, Yrica Quell by Jacopo Camagni on Bounty Hunters #13, Terec and Ceret by Javier Garron on Star Wars: The High Republic #6, and Lando Calrissian by Stephen Byrne for Star Wars #14.
In addition to featuring portraits of these LGBTQ+ Star Wars characters, each of these variants will also include a special Pride variation on the logo for the respective series on which they appear.
Marvel Pride Month Variants
This series of character-based Star Wars Pride Covers is in addition to a separate series of Marvel Comics Pride Month covers by Phil Jimenez.
And if you just can’t get enough of Bazaldua’s extremely excellent Pride Month variant cover, you’ll need to take a look at her work on The United States of Captain America #1, which will also be arriving in June.

Marvel celebrates Pride Month this June with new Star Wars variant covers starring your favorite LGBTQ+ characters
New York, NY— March 18, 2021 — In addition to an all-new series of covers by Phil Jimenez starring Marvel’s most popular LGBTQ+ heroes, StarWars.com has announced that Marvel Comics will also be honoring Pride Month with STAR WARS PRIDE COVERS. Throughout June, outstanding depictions of LGBTQ+ characters from the Star Wars galaxy will adorn the covers of Marvel’s monthly Star Wars titles: STAR WARS #14, DARTH VADER #13, DOCTOR APHRA #11, BOUNTY HUNTERS #13, THE HIGH REPUBLIC #6, AND STAR WARS: WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS #1. Fans can see Doctor Aphra, Sana Starros, Rae Sloan, Yrica Quell, Terec and Ceret, and Lando Calrissian all brought to life in spectacular artwork by an incredible lineup of LGBTQ+ talent. These eye-catching covers will also feature exclusive new Pride versions of each title’s logo.
