Next week Dark Horse Comics will release Resident Alien: The Book of Love #1. The debut issue of the latest installment in the Resident Alien series comes from series creators writer Peter Hogan and artist Steve Parkhouse. The series picks up where the previous volume, Your Ride’s Here, left off, and finds alien-in-disguise Harry Vanderspiegle and Asta Twelvetrees in the beginning of exploring their romantic feelings towards each other. Ahead of the series debut, The Beat is pleased to present a preview of the first issue.

Here’s how Dark Horse describes Resident Alien: The Book of Love #1:

The agent who was trailing Harry tries to help him resolve his issues with the government, allowing things to quiet down a bit in Patience. Harry and Asta grow closer, romance blooms, and guards are let down. Life always has a way of keeping things exciting, and big things can happen in small towns!

The relationship between Harry and Asta has been one of the most compelling aspects of Resident Alien from the very beginning (yes, perhaps even more compelling than the alien disguised as a human and solving mysteries in a small town in the Pacific Northwest).

The Book of Love is the seventh installment in the Resident Alien series, which began in the pages of Dark Horse Presents in 2011 before being collected as its own standalone series. The series has been adapted for television on the Syfy network, with Alan Tudyk starring as Harry and Sara Tomko as Asta. The second season of that show wrapped up in September, and a third season is on the way.

Check out the preview for Resident Alien: The Book of Love #1 (of 4) below. The issue is due out in stores and digitally next Wednesday, November 16th.
