After making his big screen debut courtesy of actor Woody Harrelson in the Venom sequel, now available on Digital, Marvel announced today that the maniacal Carnage symbiote is set to headline an all-new ongoing series from writer Ram V and artist Franceso Manna. No colorist, letterer, or additional members of the creative team for the Carnage book were named in the announcement. The first issue will feature a cover drawn by Kendrick “Kunkka” Lim.
Next year marks the character’s 30th anniversary and the new book will see a major upheaval for Cletus Kasady after the Carnage symbiote is separated from its host, but may be deadlier than ever.
As the co-writer of the Venom ongoing series, it’s fitting that Ram V pens this Carnage book. More than that though, Ram V has demonstrated his talent for horror through his acclaimed work on books like The Swamp Thing and Justice League Dark from DC Comics. In a statement the writer teased what’s to come in this new Carnage book:
“This Carnage story is very likely to become the most twisted thing I’ve written. The killer symbiote has gone through some pretty significant changes in recent times and I’ve been left with an opportunity to do something new and inventive with the character and the kind of stories you might expect to find in a Carnage book. This is my kind of horror– as frightening in its implications as it is on the page. This is a devilish, scary Carnage and he’s setting out to discover just where the bounds of his abilities really lie. Pity those caught in his wake. The Marvel Universe is not ready for what Carnage is turning into.”
Between this and the recently announced Venom: Lethal Protector miniseries, it’s an exciting time to a fan of symbiotes!
Look for Carnage #1 to arrive in stores on March 2, 2022.
