Dark Horse Comics has announced a pair of new trade paperbacks collecting their fan-favorite Critical Role comics. Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volume III and Critical Role: The Tales of Exandria – The Bright Queen are both due out next year.

Vox Machina Origins Volume III comes from the creative team of writers Jody Houser & Matthew Mercer, artist Olivia Samson, colorists Msassyk and Diana Sousa, and letterer Ariana Maher. Here’s how Dark Horse describes the collection, which includes all five issues of Vox Machina Origins III:

Vox Machina enjoy a week in Westruun’s lap of luxury leading up to the Winter’s Crest Festival. But that costs coin, which has a bad habit of running out, so they join an underground fighting ring and bash their way to cash. Unfortunately, their ring-fighting turns out to be just a warm-up for a cold reality when a mysterious attack on Winter’s Crest festivities leaves the whole town magically frozen––including one of their own. Vox Machina will have to save the day again, against a much bigger foe than they first realized!

The Tales of Exandria – The Bright Queen is written by Mercer & Darcy van Poelgeest, illustrated by CoupleofKooks, colored by Cris Peter, and lettered by Maher. Here’s Dark Horse’s description for that book, which collects issues 1-4 of the series of the same name:

Leylas Kryn, the Bright Queen, has spent multiple lives in pursuit of assembling the otherworldly Luxon. So when another piece appears nearby, Leylas sends her eternal lover Quana to collect it…with consequences that may threaten the entire Dynasty!

The two new collected editions are the latest Critical Role releases from Dark Horse Comics. The publisher also has a number of The Mighty Nein Origins graphic novels, focused on Caleb, Yasha, and Nott the Brave releasing next year. Critical Role’s third campaign recently kicked off, and the streaming tabletop RPG series is getting an animated adaptation from Amazon Prime next year.

Look for the Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volume III and Critical Role: The Tales of Exandria – The Bright Queen trade paperbacks to arrive, respectively, in stores on May 4th and June 15th of 2022.
