The Encyclopedia Lumberjanica: An Illustrated Guide to the Hardcore Lady-Types of Lumberjanes from BOOM! Studios is on its way to a comic shop near you on November 3rd, 2020.
Inspired by the Lumberjanes series, which was created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, and Noelle Stevenson, the Encyclopedia Lumberjanica is written by Susan Coiner-Collier and illustrated by Kaiti Infante, Alexia Khodanian, Julia Madrigal, and Kanesha C. Bryant.
The nonfiction book spotlights many of the women throughout history who inspired the Lumberjanes – including novelist Octavia E. Butler, whose protagonists certainly qualify as “Hardcore Lady-Types” (hint: do not mess with Lauren Olamina from Parable of the Sower), and Ching Shih, who the Encyclopedia Lumberjanica describes as “arguably the most successful pirate of all time.”
On top of the nonfictional information, the tome also promises to include plenty of commentary from the Lumberjanes themselves.
