Marvel unveils Predator-themed variants, teases new stories coming later this year

Marvel’s first new collection of Predator material is set to arrive in stores next month, and today the publisher teased plans new material featuring the iconic 20th Century Fox property. The heroes of the Marvel U will first encounter the Yautja in a series of variant covers arriving in stores in May, ahead of the release of new material featuring the franchise later in 2021.

(That Mighty Valkyries cover is adorable! Is it supposed to be adorable? Between the figures looking like kids and the rainbow bridge setting and the Predator’s big Disney princess eyes. I don’t know if it’s intentional but it’s the cutest thing Marvel’s put out in a while and I love it.)

By first reprinting old material, then releasing variant covers, and then publishing new stories, Marvel’s taking the same approach to the Predator franchise as they are the other big 20th Century Fox property they picked up this year: Alien. Variant covers featuring the xenomorph have already hit stores, and the first issue of a new ongoing series for the property arrives in stores next month.
