May the Fourth be with you, and Happy Star Wars Day to all who celebrate. To mark the occasion, Disney+ has released a new full-length trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the upcoming Star Wars prequel series starring Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi.
The new trailer offers extended looks at a trio of Inquisitors (played by Rupert Friend, Moses Ingram, and Sung Kang) tasked with seeking out Kenobi on behalf of Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen/James Earl Jones), who we also get a glimpse of at the end.
We also see an interaction between Obi-Wan and Luke Skywalker’s uncle, Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton), illuminating a relationship dynamic between the two that we’ve only been able to infer from decades-old dialogue before.
Also on hand for the new trailer are familiar bounty hunter 4-LOM, as well as Kumail Nanjiani in an as-yet-unidentified role.
Bonnie Piesse, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie round out the cast for the series.
Along with the trailer, Disney+ also released a new poster for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, with Darth Vader literally positioned at the heart of Kenobi.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is the latest live-action Star Wars series from Disney+. It’s also the first to serve as a prequel to the original film trilogy, as both The Mandolorian and The Book of Boba Fett take place after the events of Return of the Jedi. McGregor had long been rumored to reprise the role of the legendary Jedi Knight on the big screen, but the shift in focus on Star Wars from movies to TV following the lackluster performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story necessitated a format change for Obi-Wan’s return.
Check out a few more screengrabs from the new trailer, including Vader’s castle, the Lars homestead, and Obi-Wan using a blaster (so uncivilized), below. The six-episode Obi-Wan Kenobi series is set to debut on Disney+ on Friday, May 27th.
