DC announced at NYCC on Thursday evening that Harley Quinn herself is landing another Black Label series titled Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey. Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti will return to the character for a 4 issue miniseries which the wife and husband will co-write and Conner will provide art for. DC writes in a press release that this series will be the first official sequel to the couple’s 2013 best-selling run.

Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey, not to be confused with Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), kicks off with Harley calling it quits with Joker. To cope with the break up, Mr. J comes up with the great idea of putting a bounty of $10,000,000 on Harley’s head, rallying together nearly every villain of Gotham to claim the prize. That’s when the cavalry charges in. To drive off the Joker and his cronies, Harley recruits old pals, the Birds of Prey: Black Canary, Cassandra Cain (a.k.a. Batgirl), Renee Montoya, and the Huntress.

This Black Label series is one of many Harley-centric books DC has announced over the past few months as the character’s social capital sky rockets with association with Margot Robbie’s portrayal. Just recently, we’ve seen the release of Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass (which is amazing), HarleenJoker/Harley: Criminal Sanity and Harley Quinn and Poison and Ivy, not to mention the upcoming animated series that was tied to the announcement of this particular comic (that hits DC Universe on November 29, by the way).

Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey releases sometime in February 2020 from DC’s Black Label imprint, with 32 pages of story at a price tag of $5.99 and subsequent issues releasing every other month. Till then, check out the cover image below and stay tuned to the Beat for more NYCC updates.
