WOW, this is very cool! And smart. I’m not sure it’s the first time they’ve done it, but it’s the first time I’ve noticed: if your NYCC badge didn’t get mailed out in time, you can now pick it up EARLY, on Tuesday evening or all day Wednesday. More info here.

This is a really good idea to reduce queues that other shows have had. Granted, not many events are as big as NYCC – it’s one of the top five biggest public events in New York City of any kind – but anything to keep people moving around is a wise move.

The pick up times were announced in an email that also included copious mapping of the two consumer entrances, and the pro/speaker/guest entrance in the Crystal Palace.

As you all know, lines at NYCC can be unbearable, but they seem to be fine tuning things for everyone’s safety and comfort. Many industry folks have privately (and sometimes not so privately) grumbled about NYCC’s crowds, loud booths and non comics content over the years, but I definitely see things are getting smoother and more mature in many ways this year. It’s a welcome shift that won’t detract from the vast amounts of fun that congoers have.
