Coffin BoundWriter Dan Watters and artist Dani will team for Coffin Bound, a new grindhouse comic due out this August.
Coffin Bound, to be published by Image, follows protagonist Izzy Tyburn (great name!) as she’s chased by a killer. Other story elements here include cars, guns, and sex. You know, the usual. In a press release announcing the title, Watters elaborated on what to expect, saying:

Coffin Bound is a book all about the inevitability of death, and the choice each of us faces between coming to terms with it, or trying to deny it. This is a book drawn beautifully by Dani, with Brad Simpsons’ filthy bright colors. This is a book about cars, guns, and sex—and how each of those things does little to stave off the bottomless void waiting just beyond the veil of our known existence. What was the question again?

Watters’ past credits include Deep Roots, Sandman Universe: Lucifer, and Limbo. He’s part of a rising collective of British comicbook writers called White Noise, which also includes Ram V., Ryan O’Sullivan, and Alex Paknadel. Dani, meanwhile, has drawn comics like Girl with No Name and also worked on 2000 AD. Coffin Bound will also feature colors by Brad Simpson and letters by Aditya Bidikar.

  1. “This is a book about cars, guns, and sex—and how each of those things does little to stave off the bottomless void waiting just beyond the veil of our known existence.”
    Pretentious twaddle.
