Disney/Marvel Studios decided to drop a new Eternals trailer at midnight, Pacific time. And unlike the first, rather lowkey Nomadland-esque teaser, this one has lasers-from-eyeballs action, special effects and peeks at….a Celestial? The film is directed by Oscar-winning “Best Director” Chloe Zhao and this trailer gives us a much wider look at what she’s brining to the MCU’s Phase Four.

The trailer begins as Ajak (Salma Hayek) tells Ikaris (Richard Madden) that bringing back all the people from the Snappening unleashed enough energy to trip “the emergence” (presumably those bad Deviants) and the Eternals have only seven days to fix things. It is also revealed that the Eternals have never interfered in human history — say, stopping Thanos — because they were instructed only to interfere when the Deviants were involved. Instructed by who?

That would be a Celestial. They are the even more godlike beings who run around the cosmos – one of them was seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 as a giant head floating in space.

It seems that it is time to get the Eternals band together, and they will fight as only beings who can shoot laser beams from their eyeballs can. Because “When you love something, you protect it.”

There are plenty of good things in this trailer: Angelina Jolie’s Thena in action, Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman asking questions because he knows nothing, an Ikea joke from Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) and much more.

The visuals aren’t all that Kirby-esque, but not bad.

A new poster also dropped:

And you can read the first making of the story in EW which dropped yesterday!

Eternals lands in theaters — at least that’s the plan — on November 5th. In addition to the above, it stars Gemma Chan, Barry Keoghan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Gil Birmingham and Harish Patel.

  1. That’s pretty wild… not a single mention. Maybe the film itself will have the Stan Lee Presents banner even though he didn’t have a thing to do with it. At least we don’t have to worry about a cameo.
