Netflix dropped their official trailer for The Devil All the Time and it is overflowing with a star-studded cast! Based off of the Donald Ray Pollock‘s novel of the same name, the film takes place in Knockemstiff, Ohio, and it follows a community of shady characters.

In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters — an unholy preacher (Robert Pattinson), twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan) — converge around young Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family. Spanning the time between World War II and the Vietnam war, director Antonio CamposTHE DEVIL ALL THE TIME renders a seductive and horrific landscape that pits the just against the corrupted.

The film also stars Bill SkarsgardHaley BennettEliza ScanlenMia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, and Pokey LaFarge with Jake Gyllenhaal and Randall Poster serving as producers.

The trailer doubles down on the gothic atmosphere, as it weaves multiple storylines across multiple timelines. The imagery of old churches, handmade crosses, murder victims, and a man pouring spiders on his face undeniably frame this story as a dark, crime thriller. Thanks to their small secluded town, characters that are seemingly unrelated are brought together.

I get strong Stoker and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri vibes from the trailer. The cast alone would have won me over with this film, but who doesn’t love a post-war story with serial killers and crooked preachers set in a small town? If that doesn’t get you then seeing Spider-Man, Bucky Barnes, Pennywise, and (a future) Batman together in a film should do the trick!

The Devil All The Time will be released on September 16, 2020 on Netflix.

  1. I sounds and looks very supernatural. I’m actually excited about something from Netflix, so that’s pretty rare. Actually, I just bought this book yesterday after getting a rec from a friend. Now I’m even more excited
