Arkham inmates are no strangers to collectors and the NYCC ‘19 “Batman vs Joker Alien” exclusive from NECA is sure to be a hot item at the convention. At San Diego Comic Con, NECA unleashed Superman vs. Alien figures, along with a Batman vs. Predator set, which come straight out of the Dark Horse/DC comics co-published comics featuring the same pairings. The comics that inspired these action figure sets have seen recent re-releases and they have been selling quite well. This might be enough to prompt a new series featuring the same iconic superheroes fighting the same iconic science fiction creatures. We can only hope the new Joker Alien figure inspires its own comic.

The set is inspired by the 1997 Batman/Aliens mini-series by Ron Marz and Bernie Wrightson. A sequel was later released in 2003, by Ian Edgington and Staz Johnson. The second part sees Batman in extermination mode as Aliens have come to colonize Gotham. The story features a character called Doctor Fortune, an army scientist that manages to fuse Alien DNA with that of Arkham inmates. We get a batch of Aliens spliced with Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and Killer Croc DNA. This reads like a ‘coming soon’ list of NECA collectibles, and I hope the people who make our dreams come true read this, because we want those Arkham Aliens.

Batman/Aliens II, DC/Dark Horse

There’s been mention of a Green Lantern vs. Sinestro Corp. Predator set as well. They are to be a part of the Batman vs. Joker Alien line. There are no images of this set.

The action figure 2-pack includes Batman and Joker Alien, both with over 30 points of articulation. Batman features a fabric cape and the Joker Alien comes with a fully bendable tail.
