Mr. ZIP, the intrepid mascot of the U.S. Postal Service, is delivering more than just mail. As announced by Dynamite, the publisher will distribute a new activity book, licensed under Curiosity Ink Media, titled Mr. ZIP’s Super Steam Activity Book starring the classic American icon Mr. ZIP, sometime in July 2024.
The title refers to S.T.E.A.M. subjects, the acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines, with the addition of art, the latter of which is often left out of the traditionally known acronym of S.T.E.M. Mr. ZIP and his best friend B. Franklin will take children on an adventure, learning everything about S.T.E.A.M.
Written by Carrie Rodell and illustrated by Laura Catrinella, Mr. ZIP’s Super Steam Activity Book emphasizes not only critical thinking but encourages children to take imaginative and creative approaches to academic challenges and real-world problems, all while making sure it’s fun and enjoyable for the three- to five-year-olds.
Comprised of 80 pages, each page will be filled with entertaining activities for children to do, including mazes to navigate and solve, activities where they must spot the differences, and many more.
For those who might not know, Mr. ZIP is the cartoon character introduced by the USPS in 1963 to encourage everyone to use the new ZIP CODE system. Originally designed by the son of a letter carrier named Howard Wilcox, Mr. ZIP was widely used and promoted until the late 1970s before making his comeback in 2013 on stamps in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the ZIP CODE system.
Mr. ZIP’s Super Steam Activity Book is the first of many licensed books with Mr. ZIP’s Day in the Countryside and Where’s MR. ZIP? hitting shelves sometime in the fall.
