Next month Marvel Comics will release Miracleman by Gaiman & Buckingham: The Silver Age #1. The series will at first reprint/remaster and then present the conclusion to a storyline that writer Neil Gaiman and artist Mark Buckingham began three decades ago. December will see the release of the first entirely new issue of the story, and The Beat is proud to present a first look at the solicitation details for Miracleman by Gaiman & Buckingham: The Silver Age #3.

Here’s Buckingham’s cover for the issue, which finds Young Miracleman torn between his mentor, Miracleman, and his former partner-turned-mass murderer, Kid Miracleman:

And here’s how Marvel describes the issue, which will also sport a variant cover by Carlos Pacheco:

Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham present the first ALL-NEW chapter in “The Silver Age!”

      • High atop the Himalayas, Dicky Dauntless searches to find his place in the Age of Miracles. He’ll make new friends and encounter a frightening, familiar face – Johnny Bates!
      • It’s Young Miracleman and Kid Miracleman – face-to-face!

Originally published in the U.S. by Eclipse Comics, Miracleman ran for 24 issues between 1985 and 1993. The first sixteen issues of the series were written by Alan Moore and illustrated by a number of artists including Garry LeachAlan DavisChuck Austen, Rick Veitch, and John Totleben. Following the end of Moore’s run in 1989, the series continued the following year with Gaiman and Buckingham at the helm. Their first six-issue storyline, The Golden Age, has already been reprinted by Marvel in single-issue form, and a new softcover collected edition of the storyline is due in stores next month. Eclipse released Miracleman #23 and 24, the first two parts of The Silver Age, before the publisher shut down in 1994.

At the beginning of this year, in the pages of the Timeless #1 one-shot, Marvel also teased that the then-unannounced return of Miracleman might have an impact on the Marvel Universe. Whether that impact would be separate from what Gaiman and Buckingham are doing with the character, or if that was just a cheeky tease for the return of The Silver Age, remains to be seen.

Look for Miracleman by Gaiman and Buckingham: The Silver Age #3 to arrive in stores and digitally in December 2022.
