I don’t He-Man fans expected when it was announced at Power-Con that not only was a revival of the classic Masters of the Universe: Revelation cartoon set to debut on Netflix, but that Kevin Smith would be helming the show. Along for the ride, Smith would be bringing along He-Man: the Eternity War author Rob David to produce while writers include Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen), Diya Mishra (Magic the Gathering) and Marc Bernardin (Alphas). Also involved as producers are Adam Bonnett (Descendants), Christopher Keenan (Batman Beyond) and  Susan Corbin produces. Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania) is the animation studio..

If it’s anything like the massive hit She-Ra, Smith and crew are bringing out all the stops. Sure enough, from the voice cast announced today it’s clear that they’re bringing in some of the best actors to bring the world of Eternia to live. Voicing the titular hero is Chris Wood, probably best known for his role as the Kryptonian Mon-El on the CW series Supergirl. With both Smith and Carrasco having been previously worked on the Supergirl series in directing and writing capacities respectively, it’s pretty clear that they had a working relationship with clicked with Wood in choosing him for the role of Prince Adam. Also along for the ride is another Smith regular and good friend, Mark Hamill as Skeletor.

“I cannot believe the lineup of talent I get to play with,” said Smith. “The incredible, star-studded cast that Mattel’s Rob David and Netflix’s Ted Biaselli assembled for our Masters of the Universe series will let any lifelong He-Man fan know we’re treating this cartoon seriously and honoring the legendary world of Eternia with A-list talent. Chris, Sarah, Mark, Lena and the other amazing actors and actresses have given performances so powerful and real in a show that features a talking giant green tiger. With these fantastic performers behind our characters, it’ll be crazy easy to immerse yourself in the swords and sorcery of our epic sci-fi soap opera.”

Moreover, Kevin Conroy who’s been the Batman to Hamill’s Joker for nearly three decades will be joining Hamill on the villain side this time around as Mer-Man. In fact, the voice cast boasts some other impressive veterans of DC Comics animation, particularly Justice League, voice veterans such as Susan Eisenberg and Phil LaMarr. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Kevin Smith project if Jason Mewes wasn’t involved in some capacity. But I don’t think anyone could have predicted Mewes as Stinkor.
