Even though Marvel’s Avengers was reportedly a financial failure for Square Enix, the video game publisher promised to support the game with multiple years of free updates. The company may be questioning its decision to make such a big commitment ahead of the game’s release, but so far Square Enix is sticking to its word.

At the end of 2020 Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) was added as a playable character, but the content received little fanfare. The next Marvel’s Avengers update is quite a bit more eventful. During the February 16 Avengers War Table presentation, the game’s developer Crystal Dynamics revealed that in addition to adding Clint Barton to the roster (with a pizza dog cameo), they’re debuting next-gen updates for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. The most exciting piece of news from today’s deep dive, however, is the reveal of a brand new story mission.

Marvel's Avengers update Old Man Hawkeye

Crystal Dynamics revealed that Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect will be based on Old Man Hawkeye, the Marvel maxiseries written by Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Marco Checchetto. It apears that the Avengers will go on a time travel adventure featuring an older and very different Clint Barton.

The Marvel’s Avengers update arrives on March 18. To learn more about the new content coming that day you can watch the trailer below.
