First announced back in 2020, Star Wars: The High Republic is a publishing initiative spanning multiple comics and novels, taking place around two hundred years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. These stories have ranged from those aimed at younger readers to the more mature variety. Yesterday during Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, details for Phase II of Star Wars: The High Republic Marvel comics were revealed.

This October will see the launch of Star Wars: The High Republic, a relaunch of the ongoing series from the returning creative team of writer Cavan Scott and artist Ario Anindito. Here’s how the publisher describes the series:

Set 150 years before Phase 1, Phase II of Star Wars: The High Republic will center around Jedha, a planet rich in its connection to the Force and the focus of every major faith in the galaxy. The new flagship STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC comic series will introduce Jedi Vildar Mac, who arrives as Jedha’s fragile peace begins to crumble and a nameless terror arrives

November will see the launch of Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade, a 4-issue miniseries from writer Charles Soule, one of the High Republic chief architects, teaming with artist Marco Castiello. The series will “explore the mysterious backstory of Porter Engle, the Jedi-turned-cook also known as the Blade of Bardotta.”

The two new titles join Marvel’s Saga-era titles based on the iconic film series, including Star WarsStar Wars: Darth VaderStar Wars: Doctor Aphra, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunters. The first volume of The High Republic wrapped its 15-issue run in March, with a number of tie-in miniseries including Eye of the Storm and Trail of Shadows running both during and after the run. Yesterday’s announcement indicates Marvel will be sticking with that strategy in building out the newly-explored Star Wars era going forward.

Look for the new volume of Star Wars: The High Republic to launch in October, with Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade kicking off in November.
