Spooky season is only a few months away but the solicits are pouring in. Marvel has announced…Crypt of Shadows #1, a special giant-sized one-shot perfect for Halloween.

Paying homage to the original Crypt of Shadows anthology series that was published between 1973 and 1975, Crypt of Shadows #1 promises (according to Marvel) a “collection of stories that showcase just how creepy the Marvel Universe can be!”

Crypt of Shadows

Characters expected to appear across these tales include Moon Knight, Wolverine, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, and Blade‘s daughter Bloodline.

Bloodline, the daughter of Blade, first appeared not too long ago – in Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day 2022 offering Avengers/X-Men #1, in May.

While creative team and story specifics won’t be available for a little while longer, Marvel has said that the creative talent involved in Crypt of Shadows #1 includes Chris Cooper, Al Ewing, Danny Lore, Rebecca Roanhorse, Adam Warren, Chris Condon, Karen S. Darboe, Geoff Shaw, and Ibrahim Moustafa. Leinil Francis Yu provides the cover.

The PR teaser sets some more of the tone:

“The heroes of the Marvel Universe spend most of their time in the bright sun, flying high above it all…but every once in a while, they venture into the darkness that lurks in the hidden corners of the world. There lurk the creatures, the monsters, the vampires…the ones who prey on innocence and goodness…”
