Another comiXology Original team up with Marvel; this one  Black Panther: Long Live The King, a 6-issue bi-weekly series written by Nnedi Okorafor, winner of the World Fantasy, Hugo, and Nebula Awards (Binti, Who Fears Death), and illustrated by Andre Araujo (Spidey, The Wicked + Divine).

Previous Marvel/CX Originals include  The Immortal Iron Fists and Thor Vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe, with more coming.

The series is, like other Marvel digital first comics, a tie-in with a coming movie property as the Black Panther film opens in February. If you’re a Kremlinologist you’ll see Marvel’s comtinuing flirting with digital serialization an experiment in someday going paperless entirely.

But that’s down the road. For now we have what looks like an interetsing comic by a fantastic writer:

Black Panther arrives December 13th for $2.99 on comiXology and Kindle as part of the comiXology Originals line of exclusive digital content and will be available to current subscribers of the popular comiXology Unlimited service. New subscribers to comiXology Unlimited can also enjoy it for free as part of their 30-day free trial.

A perfect entry point for new fans and longtime readers alike, Black Panther: Long Live The King is an adventure set in the world of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ landmark Black Panther run and told in the Mighty Marvel Manner!  As the Black Panther and an Avenger, T’Challa has had to save the world time and again – but those duties pale in comparison to his responsibilities as king of Wakanda. As the nation rebuilds in the wake of revolution, T’Challa finds his people besieged by a massive monster tearing through the country, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake!

“Marvel Comic’s Immortal Iron Fists and Thor vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe have been topping the charts on comiXology,” said Chip Mosher, comiXology’s Head of Content & Senior Director of Communications. “These digital exclusives, part of the ComiXology Originals line, continue to add value and interest to our comiXology Unlimited subscription service.”

Fans across the globe have been attracted to Marvel’s amazing characters through top-grossing movies, critically-acclaimed TV series, and ground-breaking new publishing series that have driven titles like Guardians of the Galaxy, Daredevil, and Black Panther to new heights, alongside perennial favorites like Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers.

This past spring, Marvel Comics joined comiXology Unlimited, giving fans the ability to read over 10,000 titles including thousands of Marvel Comics single issues and collections as part of their comiXology Unlimited membership, featuring Super Heroes like The Avengers, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Guardians of the Galaxy and more.
