Marissa Louise an an absolute delight. On top of being the colorist behind stories including DC Vertigo’s Hex Wives, Albatross Funnybooks’ Grumble, and Dark Horse’s Spell on Wheels, she’s an absolutely fantastic conversationalist on anything…including ’60s Hag Films.
Watch as Marissa Louise uses watercolors to craft a wonderful set of color studies as she discusses her love of this genre of films and of Sunset Boulevard in particular.
Last week, the trade paperback for Louise’s latest work on Fairlady, Volume 1, was released by Image Comics. The story goes as follows:
Every fantasy epic ends with a war. But what happens when the war is over? After posing as a man to join the army, Jenner Faulds returns home to The Feld for a new start as a “Fairman”—a specially licensed private investigator. But sexism didn’t end on the battlefield, and as the only “Fairlady,” Jenner gets stuck with the cases nobody else wants. Hitting the streets to solve The Feld’s overlooked mysteries, Jenner finds that the smallest cases hide the biggest secrets.
