BOOMBOX_Lumberjanes_001_Wondercon_WEB.jpgHeading your way from 20th Century Fox and BOOM!, comes the big screen adaptation of the mega-popular, Eisner Award-winning, Lumberjanes.

The comic created by Shannon Waters, Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Brooke A. Allen has been set for adaptation for a while now, with the initial announcement coming in May of last year. Now, per The Wrap, a director has been found for the project, and it is up and coming indie-filmmaker Emily Carmichael.

Carmichael has been much in demand in Hollywood, even leading to some speculation that she might end up in the director’s chair for Captain Marvel. Her upcoming film, Powerhouse, will be her feature-length directorial debut with Amblin Entertainment.

Will Widger wrote the initial draft of the script, and according to The Wrap’s report, this project is a major priority for the studio. Given the devoted following this series has received, it’s no wonder why!

There’s no word on a projected release date as of yet.

  1. The article description describes the film as live-action, but the headline at ComicsAlliance says it’s animated, and the Wrap story both articles link doesn’t appear to say which it is. (Though I may have missed it; the Wrap site is an unreadable, overlay-covered mess on a phone. My kingdom for a browser extension that just ignores position: fixed.) Can anyone shed any light?
