We’re a month away from the release of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), the full title of which I definitely just copy and pasted from its wikipedia page, and each trailer honestly looks better than the last.

This one centers pretty firmly on Harley Quinn, no surprise there, and provides a bit more background on the plot itself. In short, Harley’s (Margot Robbie) breakup with the Joker has now sent Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) and his thugs like Zsasz (Chris Messina, looking really gross) after her. But she’s got some new allies to help her in this new war; Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollet-Bell), Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).

But don’t take it from me, here’s the new trailer to really get your interest piqued:

This looks so fun, and I won’t pretend like that last shot didn’t have me chuckling to myself a bit. Cathy Yan looks to be injecting some new life into the DC Universe here, and using the mindscape of Harley Quinn along with these bright popping colors, this looks like it’ll be thrilling.

Plus, kudos to the marketing whiz that decided to pair Harley with Bjork’s “It’s Oh So Quiet”, just a perfect backing track on a number of fronts. (Edit: I’ve been told it’s a cover, clearly my ears are terrible)

I have to say, between this, Wonder Woman 1984, Shazam!, how promising Matt Reeves’ The Batman is shaping up, and what’s sure to be a good time in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, the DC Universe on film is starting to look like a really great place to spend your superhero movie dollars. A heck of a turnaround, and I get the feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about the rising success of Walter Hamada at DC Films in the coming months as more of these roll out.

Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7th. I, for one, cannot wait now.
