It’s been a while since we had a new platform for digital comics, but now you can read them on your Nintendo Switch courtesy of InkyPen, a new service that is launching on Monday, December 17th. InkyPen will offer unlimited comics for a subscription fee – $7.99 or €7.99 a month. And here’s the intro video:

You will get a wide choice. The service was announced last March with IDW, Valiant, Humanoids, Dynamite and Titan Comics – but they have just added Dark Horse, Archie Comics and Papercutz. In addiiton, they’ll carry well known indie and webcomics titles, including Daniel Lieske’s The Wormworld Saga, Andrews McMeel Universal’s Sarah’s Scribbles, Pearls Before Swine, and Big Nate as well as Studio Foglio’s Girl Genius.

Titles you can binge include Judge Dredd, Transformers, Robotech, X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Metabarons, Pathfinder and Battlestar Galactica, and video game comics such as Dark Souls, Dishonored, Tekken, and Assassin’s Creed – and yes, manga.

Perhaps most important, as they are a Norwegian company, they have an adorable female fox in a magenta trench coat named Inky as their mascot! So for fans of mystical Scandinavian forests full of magical creatures, this is the comics platform for you.

This latest addition to the all-you-can-eat comics service was developed by a group of indie game developers. According to the website, although they arte concentrating on the Switch for now, they may come to other devices as well.

“Given the price of comics, you get value within minutes reading them on InkyPen. This is great if you don’t want to buy loads of comics just to find out what you actually like.” – Ronan Huggard, InkyPen CEO.

Do you own a Switch? Are you interested in reading comics on it? Do you like Inky?

  1. I have a Switch, so I’m definitely going to download this app and try out this service. I’m interested to see how it differs from the other comics reading apps and services.
