Bill The Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman

Well, it’s really only a mystery if you’ve never passed Comcis History 101, but it’s nice to see Bill Finger getting attention, in this case, a documentary taht debuts on Hulu on May 6th (right after Free Comic Book Day!)

The film is the brainchild of Marc Tyler Nobleman, author of Bill The Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman, a kids book which explores how Finger created pretty much all of the Batman mythos we know and love, from the Joker to Robin, while Bob Kane was credited as the sole creator until 2015, when DC started giving Finger co-creator credit in comics and film and TV.

Bill_finger_photoIt was the end of a longtime crusade by Finger’s family and Nobleman. Finger died in 1974. He’s since been voted into the Eisner Hall of Fame, and the Finger Award, recognizing comics writers, is named after him.

The above trailer for the documentary plays up the mystery angle in a satisfying way, and it’s good to see this particular comics injustice given more play on a streaming platform.
