Kate Bishop fans anxious for the character to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series will now have something else to look forward to this fall. Marvel has announced Hawkeye: Kate Bishop, a new five-issue miniseries starring the young avenging archer that will bring her back from the west coast to New York City. The series is written by Marieke Nijkamp and penciled by Enid Balám, with covers by Jahnoy Lindsay. No letterer was named in the announcement, nor were the inker or colorist, though Nijkamp tweeted that the series will be inked by Oren Junior and colored by Brittany Peer.

Following a stint in Los Angeles, HAWKEYE: KATE BISHOP picks up at a turning point in Kate’s life when she returns to New York after being convinced by many friends, and a few clues from the case she’s working, to come back to the East Coast. When Kate gets invited to a resort to solve a mysterious jewel heist, she sees it as a confidence-boost, a sign that she’s making the right decision and not going to backslide into her past. The case is perfect…and it’s almost definitely a trap.
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop is the first Marvel Comics work for Marieke Nijkamp, the New York Times bestselling author of numerous novels across a variety of age groups. Nijkamp’s comics work includes The Oracle Code graphic novel for DC Comics and a Goosebumps miniseries, Secrets of the Swamp, for IDW. The series is also the Marvel debut for Enid Balám, whose previous comics work includes Omni for Humanoids.
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop is the latest series to feature the Young Avenger as its headliner. Kate previously starred in the Hawkeye ongoing series from writer Kelly Thompson and artists Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire. She was also a featured player in the short-lived West Coast Avengers series written by Thompson and illustrated by Stefano Caselli, which acted as something of an extension of the Hawkeye series.
In an interview with Bustle about the series, Nijkamp described what she likes most about Kate Bishop:
“I love Kate,” Nijkamp gushes, adding, “I love her snark. I love the way she jumps first and asks questions later, but somehow still always finds a way out.” She adds, “What a time to be a Best Hawkeye fan!”
