The winners of the 2013 LA Times Book Prizes have been announced and:
Sammy Harkham’s EVERYTHING TOGETHER: COLLECTED STORIES (PictureBox) won, beating out Alison Bechdel, Leela Corman, Spain Rodriguez, and even Chris Ware.
How could anything beat out Ware’s epochal BUILDING STORIES? Well, EVERYTHING TOGETHER is a truly excellent book, and Harkham’s work has more of an LA connection.
The prizes were presented on Friday. Occasional cartoonist Margaret Atwood was also presented with the 2012 Innovator’s Award.
i’m of the opinion that Harkham should win every prize. at least once anyway.
