Sort of like how Smallville dropped Tom Welling into the Superman costume finally in the last 10 minutes or so of the series, it looks as though Gotham is finally going to debut their own version of its principal superhero, and here’s a bit of what to expect based on the below teaser image:

So how is it going to work exactly? Current Bruce Wayne actor David Mazouz is 18 now, but still not exactly on the bigger side as would be required of an actor in the cape and cowl, so instead it looks like he’ll share the role with another, taller actor for full body shots, while face shots will feature him in the mask and his voice. The show itself will jump 10 years into the future in the final episode as Showrunner John Stephens explained:

“He’s in the episode, not just in a last scene,” said Stephens. “The last episode is one scene in the timeline of the rest of the season, and then the rest of the episode is in the future. It almost feels in a weird way like another pilot.”

Here’s the finale’s description, which airs on April 18th:

Bane (guest star Shane West) enacts his final plan for Gotham’s destruction, as Gordon (Ben McKenzie) rallies his former enemies to save the city. Meanwhile, Nyssa al Ghul (guest star Jaime Murray) kidnaps Barbara’s newborn daughter with ambitions to raise her as her own. Then, Bruce’s decision to leave Gotham points him to his destiny, while devastating Selina.
