Another pair of digital comics are set to make their print debut later this year. Dark Horse Comics will release the Comixology Originals series Funny Creek and Double Walker in trade paperback collected editions in December.
Funny Creek is a five-issue all-ages series from the Stout Club collective. The book is written by Rafael Scavone & Rafael Albuquerque, illustrated by Eduardo Medeiros, colored by Priscilla Tramontano, and lettered by Bernardo Brice. Here’s how Dark Horse describes the series:
Running from a terrible trauma at home, Lilly magically falls inside her favorite cartoon show. But the bright world of Funny Creek isn’t as far from the pains of the real world as she had hoped. A thrilling adventure ensues where Lilly must overcome her troubles and make her way home. Funny Creek is a story about the power of pop culture idols and overcoming guilt.
Funny Creek was the first of four series created by Stout Club as part of an exclusive agreement with Comixology Originals; the digital publisher recently announced another Stout Club-created title, Red Tag. The collective has also worked previously with Dark Horse Comics, releasing the four-issue fantasy series Hidden Society through the publisher in 2020.
On the decidedly not-all-ages end of things is Double Walker, a from writer Michael W. Conrad, artist Noah Bailey, and letterer Taylor Esposito. Here’s how the publisher describes that one:
Cully and Gemma are watching their carefree, childless days come to an end and decide to take one last trip to the magical Scottish Highlands before the baby arrives. What was meant to be a romantic trip soon spirals into paranoia and violence as a bizarre string of murders follows them on their journey. Double Walker is the second Comixology Originals series from Conrad, Bailey, & Esposito to see print release from Dark Horse. Their first collaboration, Tremor Dose, came to print from the publisher last year.
The December releases of Funny Creek and Double Walker will close out a year of Dark Horse print editions for Comixology Originals series which includes Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion, Tom Napolitano, & Dave McCaig‘s three-issue We Have Demons, the first Originals title to be released in physical single issues. The first issue of that series is out in stores this week. Other forthcoming books from the Dark Horse/Comixology Originals agreement include Ray Fawkes‘s In The Flood; Greg Lockard, Tim Fish, Hector Barros, and Lucas Gattoni‘s Liebestrasse; and Jeremy Holt, Elizabeth Beals, and Adam Wollet‘s Virtually Yours, among many others.
Both Funny Creek and Double Walker will be released as 144-page softcovers with a cover price of $22.99 each. Funny Creek will hit stores on Tuesday, December 6th, and is available for preorder from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local comic shop now.
