When Titan Comics announced this past December they’d bring Showtime’s Penny Dreadful to sequential panels near you, one had to wonder how the art would represent the dark energy and lurid tone of the show. Wonder no more! Below we have page one of the series, from Heavy Metal artist Louie De Martinis, due out May 4th: AKA the new comic day before Free Comic Book Day.

Penned by Penny Dreadful series writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns, the comics will serve as a prequel to the show. From Titan:
This prequel reveals the terrifying events that led Vanessa to try and find her missing childhood friend, Mina Harker, and exposes the true nature of the vampiric monsters infesting Victorian London.
Can’t wait ’till May to get more pulpy comic goodness? Check out the covers released so far for the debut issue below.
