trauma04The Beat is delighted to exclusively announce Guillaume Singelin‘s new graphic novel from First Second Books: PTSD.

Singelin, best known for his graphic novels through Casterman, his work for Ankama Animation, and the French series The Grocery with Aurélien Ducoudray (edited by Label 619), will see this stunning looking meditation on the after-effects of war published in the Winter of 2017.

Here’s the description of his latest offering, along with preview art to whet your appetite:

In a fictional Hong-Kong style metropolis, Jun returns home from a failing, unpopular war.

Suddenly she finds herself an ex-soldier returning to an unwelcoming civilian world.

Through PTSD spurred by the war, Jun is about to fight her inner demons.

The imagery is stunning and it’s a rare thing to see the personal consequence of military from the female perspective. The fact that PTSD is coming from such a stand-out talent as Singelin easily makes this one of THE anticipated graphic novels of 2017.

With this announcement, and much of their upcoming release slate (which includes Gene Luen Yang and Mike HolmesSecret CodersBastien Vives, Michael Sanlaville, and Balak‘s Last Man: The Royal Cup) First Second continues to be one of the most diverse and fascinating publishers in the comics marketplace.
