OKAY: The first version of this story got everything wrong, but it’s all corrected now.

Next month see the debut of the comics adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods: Shadows from Dark Horse, and yes there will be variants. P. Craig Russell is adapting the novel with Scott Hampton doing interiors and Glenn Fabry the regular cover artist.

American Gods is being turned into a TV series on Starz – the story involves Shadow, a rootless man who gets a job as bodyguard to an entity known as Mr Wednesday and sets off on an odyssey across America, learning many secrets along the way. It’s quite the appropriate story for these times.

While Fabry is the main cover artist, and David Mack will be the regular variant cover artist – with a special one for the first issue by Dave McKean – there’s also a Forbidden Planet/Jetpack variant sketch cover by Fabry, seen here exclusively for the first time.

The back cover is by Scott Hampton, with all the logos to keep the sketch  clear:

And here are the other covers, which uniformly look amazing:

And some interiors. This  project looks to be an utterly gorgeous, quality adaptation of a fantasy classic.
