Event Leviathan: Checkmate is a new six-issue mini-series from Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, which will hit this April and continue the spy saga that the duo started last year.
DC Comics announced the new mini Tuesday on its website, and the story really looks like a direct continuation of the book that came out last year. Obviously, the villain is back, but so too are many of the principal heroes involved. Instead of figuring out who Leviathan is (one of the original Manhunters, it turns out!) and what the heck is going on, these heroes will now be trying to stop Leviathan, which is good because I was wondering when someone would get around to that.
Anyway, the heroes involved include Green Arrow, Lois Lane, and The Question, who will be teaming up against Leviathan with Talia Al Ghul and a secret mystery character who will be working from the shadows (probably Maxwell Lord). That group will be forming a new version of Checkmate, the long-time DC Universe spy organization that was wiped out by Leviathan last year along with all the other long-time DC Universe spy organization, of which there were many.
