Although the market for NFTs has sagged quite a bit from its winter high, they are still coming out as more and more people get involved in various schemes. Among them Dynamite Entertainment has just teamed with Terra Virtua for a line of collectibles based on Vampirella, Red Sonja, The Boys, Evil Ernie, Purgatori, John Carter, Dejah Thoris, Miss Fury, Jennifer Blood, and more.

Creators whose work will be featured include Michael Turner, Peter Steigerwald, Joe Quesada, Jimmy Palmiotti, Jim Lee, Tim Bradstreet, Mark Texeira, John Romita Jr., John Romita Sr., Lucio Parrillo, Joe Jusko, Alex Ross, J. Scott Campbell, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Jose Gonzalez, and, yes, more.

In case you missed 2021’s biggest fad, NFTs are digital collectibles that are made unique by unique “codes.” Aside from the weirdness of calling a digital item one of a kind, NFTs have drawn harsh criticism for the vast amounts of power that they waste in minting these huge codes.

However Dynamite and Terra Virtua use the “proof of stake” method of NFTs that uses 99% less energy, by switching from the Ethereum blockchain to Polygon.

Dynamite joins a small group of comics publishers who have started producing NFTs. While there have been many NFTs from comics adjacent entities, most publishers have been reading lightly. Marvel recently partnered with VeVe for NFTs, and we’ve been covering start up universe Emergents from a variety of well known comics folks.

“We’re extremely excited to be working with Terra Virtua, and at the forefront of their next wave as they revamp to a more sustainable model in the switch from Ethereum to Polygon,” said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO/Publisher in a statement. “It is especially rewarding working with Gary and the team at Terra Virtua, as they are comic fans themselves! It was wonderful to be able to speak with new partners who are genuinely invested in our characters, stories, and creators. Working together, we’ve built in participation for the creators whose work we are presenting in this new format. This is a great opportunity for the Dynamite Universe — both characters and creators — to be brought to a brand-new audience, as well as bring new collectibles to our existing fan base! The ability to bring our characters and creators to a new and growing audience helps grow the overall comics industry and community.”

Gary Bracey, Terra Virtua CEO said, “We are privileged to partner with Dynamite Comics for this exciting venture. Being massive comic fans ourselves, this is a perfect match as we respect not only their democratic attitude towards the creative talent but also the incredible diversity of published content from groundbreaking series like The Boys through to the iconic Vampirella, Red Sonja, and much more. We cannot wait for fans to see the innovative NFTs we are collaborating on!”

The lithos are now live on the Terra Virtua site, with various limited editions featuring mostly “Spicy Tales” style Dynamite cover art in varying size releases.
