Devolver Digital remains on top form with its parody E3 events. This year Devolver poked fun at free-to-play and subscription gaming monetisation models. Interspersed across the madcap 30-minute lampoon were reveals of six games to come from the publisher. Here are the trailers.

Trek to Yomi

A cinematic hack-and-slash that will have you fondly remembering the samurai movies of yore. The synopsis,

“As a vow to his dying Master, the young swordsman Hiroki is sworn to protect his town and the people he loves against all threats. Faced with tragedy and bound to duty, the lone samurai must voyage beyond life and death to confront himself and decide his path forward.”

Phantom Abyss (PC)
Developer: Team WIBY
Release: Steam Early Access opens June 22, full release TBA

The synopsis describes it as “a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers.” It looks like fun.

Wizard With A Gun (PC & Switch)
Developer: Galvanic

From the developers behind Some Distant Memory, Gurgamoth, Rapture Rejects, and Questmore. The synopsis:

“Wizard with a Gun is an online cooperative sandbox survival game set in a magical wilderness wrought with dangerous creatures and arcane mysteries. Embark on a journey alone or with friends to collect, craft, and outfit your wizard however you see fit as you explore the unknown.”

Death’s Door (PC, Xbox One, Xbox S|X)
Developer: Acid Nerve
Release: July 20, 2021

This game looks really impressive. An isometric adventure through another realm with a distinctive visual style. The synopsis:

“Reaping souls of the dead and punching a clock might get monotonous but it’s honest work for a Crow. The job gets lively when your assigned soul is stolen and you must track down a desperate thief to a realm untouched by death – where creatures grow far past their expiry.”

Inscryption (No platforms noted but there is a Steam page)
Developer: Daniel Mullins Games
Release: 2021

From the creator of The Hex and Pony Island comes a horror tinged card-based adventure game.

Demon Throttle (Switch via Special Reserve Games only)
Developer: Doinksoft
Release: Preorders close October 13, will ship in 2022

This one is an odd duck. A retro-style top-down shooter apparently physical exclusive AND only available via Special Reserve Games.
