The series Buzzfeed called “the best horror comic of the year” and Comics Alliance rated “most unpredictable” and “uncanny and uncategorizable” comes to a shocking conclusion. Will Leeward uncover a history buried thousands of leagues beneath the sea – or will the waves come crashing down on what little land is left?
Why do they keep letting Dan Didio write comics?
Oh yeah, he’s in charge.
Give Forever People to *any* other writer and it would last twice as long as this one will.
And the title is too long.
Great to see they are finally getting the Jamie Delano/ Steve Pugh run of Animal Man into trade. Sure, the Grant Morrison run was more cheeky and clever, but for my money, the Delano/Pugh days on that title were the best and it was an interesting time, just pre-Vertigo, of moving the title away from ‘weird superhero comics’ into its own, genre-less thing.
Not that I mind, but i wonder who the José Luis García-López fan hired at DC’s collected editions department is. Twilight just announced, that recent collection of his Superman stories, the Deadman books, bunch of his stories in the new Jonah Hex Showcase book. Now Cinder&Ashe? That’s a deep cut on the JLGL catalogue. What’s next, Atari Force?
Is that Chadwick/Ellison (or rather, Ellison®) thing any good?
And by its absence I see SANDMAN OVERTURE slips further down the schedule. At this rate, Leslie Klinger’s annotations will probably come out before the comic.
I’m really curious who the target audience is for INFINITY MAN AND THE LONGWINDED TITLE. A fiftysomething crowd that remembers the original FOREVER PEOPLE series but has no interest in New 52 books? The readers who enjoyed the recent O.M.A.C. series that was cancelled with issue #8? The trademark renewal office?
I always thought the Forever People had potential, but they got lost in the Kirby concept vortex. He had so many cool ideas, but not all of them were successful.
Who knows why they are coming through the Boom Tube in 2014; @brian, maybe it IS the trademark office asking for a 15 minute appearance. Can’t see a long run for this one.
On an up note, there are SO many titles in this April preview, and some of them are great!
Likely never to be heard within this reality: “As a big fan of OMAC, I, Vampire, Resurrection Man, the Movement, and Frankenstein – Agent of S.H.A.D.E., I look forward to many long years of reading issues of Infinity Man and the Forever People. Although, it’d have been even cooler if it could’ve been ‘F.O.R.E.V.E.R.’ instead.”
Silly but True
BobH,
You state that like it’s a bad thing to be a Garcia-Lopez fan. “Twilight” is still my all-time favorite of his (great Chaykin dialogue, by the way), and if that’s being reissued I’ll be right there to buy it.
Sorry, I didn’t mean it to sound like I was critical of García-López, quite the opposite. I love his art, especially Twilight (though I was less fond of Chaykin’s work in that book than you were). I just think it’s weird that so much of his work is being re-released in such a short period. Usually you only see that if a creator has a suddenly higher profile from another book (like the reprint of Brian Vaughan’s Swamp Thing run, which I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone clamour for a reprint of).
“INFINITY MAN AND THE FOREVER PEOPLE #1
Written by DAN DIDIO”
The series that nobody has been demanding! From the editor whose every foray into writing has been a complete failure! Experience the thrill of seeing whether this book will even last six issues before cancellation!
There was actually a great mini-series of Forever People written by JM DeMatteis. Anyone know if that’s been collected?

Simply mind-boggling. Once again, another interesting DC title is axed, yet the bland, boring worst (content-wise and sales-wise) title that DC’s had to offer in decades Batwing survives another month. Truly the Teflon (TM) book of the ages. Did Didio & co. lose a bet or something?
@BobH, I’ll vouch for the Ellison book! Chadwick’s art’s a little less controlled than in his Concrete work, but Ken Steacy knocks it out on the colors. As for the writing, it’s good, world-weary stuff from Ellison, incorporating a pretty big plot element from his unused Star Trek film script. I got it in hardcover and had no regrets.
well, i guess i can say that i’m a huge fan of OMAC, I, Vampire, Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE, and Resurrection Man (the Movement isn’t bad) and i would love to see the new title do well. but it won’t, because only super heroes sell at the big 2.
