German actor Falk Hentschel, who has been seen on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Reckless will be joining the cast of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as the newest incarnation of Carter Hall aka Hawkman.
The series has already recruited Ciara Renee to play Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, so it was surely only a matter of time before her other-half was pulled into the fray. According to Entertainment Weekly, Hawkman will debut on a Arrow/The Flash crossover episode (perhaps episode 8 again?) before making his way over to Legends, which is scheduled for the midseason.
The last time we saw Hawkman in live-action was on Smallville, where he was portrayed by Michael Shanks putting on his best “Christian Bale Batman” voice. Hopefully, this version will come across a bit better.
If nothing else, the premise of Legends is pretty enticing, particularly the time-travelling adventure to fight Vandal Savage aspect. Outside of the Netflix offerings, it’s probably my most anticipated superhero television romp.
