DC Universe has released a new promo for the streaming service’s upcoming Doom Patrol TV series. The ad formally introduces the members of the team—Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), and Cyborg (Joivan Wade). Also included are a shadowy shot of Timothy Dalton as Chief Niles Caulder, as well as a first look at Alan Tudyk as villain Mr. Nobody.
The tone of the promo is promising, as it seems to lean in to the weird humor of Grant Morrison and Richard Case’s seminal run on Doom Patrol. Perhaps the best effect in the trailer is Tudyk as Mr. Nobody, while the most troubling thing for me was Fraser as Robotman; I had to watch the promo at least half a dozen times before I could make out what he was saying. Hopefully we don’t have another Tom-Hardy-as-Bane situation on our hands.
Check out the promo, as well as some screen caps of the major players, below. Doom Patrol premieres on DC Universe on February 15th.
