A graphic novella following a golem woman’s life over 100 years of her existence.

The Scent of May Rain is a graphic novella that originally launched to a small print run, but has since caught fire. That’s what brings us here, to Kickstarter. It’s a straightforward campaign aiming simply to put this comic into more readers’ hands and hard drives. If you haven’t heard of it, The Scent of May Rain follows a Jewish golem woman through her hundred years of life in a variety of roles as she explores her own humanity. The comic comes to 68 pages in a 6” x 9” size, held together in a matte cover.

Issue 2 of the sci-fi surf rock comic book series about moving forward through grief… while trying to stop an alien invasion.

Sci-fi, rock, and surf collide in the second issue of Dr. Love Wave and the Experiments. It’s been a year since Milt Summers lost his mom, and he’s just trying to rock his way through it when literally all the water in the Harbor disappears and is replaced with patrols of mysterious creatures. The adventure continues here with the main story, as well as backups drawn by guest artists. Check it all out at the link below.

Time Schmucks: An Original Genre-Comedy Miniseries

time schmucks

Creators: Jack Fitzsimmons (writer), Tom Hoskisson (artist), Rebecca McConnell (colorist), Simon Robins (letterist)
Goal: $5,500
End date: February 25, 2021
Goodies: A digital copy is just $2, a physical copy if $5, and higher tiers include pins, stickers, and more.

The first installment in a six-part comedy/science fiction comic series set in 19th century Philadelphia!

This next one is for those of us who love to watch casually awful people go about their lives. Described as akin to Seinfeld and Always Sunny, Time Schmucks adds a bit of sci-fi flare to the sitcom formula, following the two eponymous goobers as they find themselves in 19th century Philly – and discovering shortly thereafter that Ben Franklin invented time travel. This first issue is completed and ready to hit the printers, so funds for this campaign will also go into producing even more of this six-issue mini.

2 For Joy 2 for joy

Creators: Abi Watson (author)
Goal: $1,230
End date: February 25, 2021
Goodies: Grab the book in physical for $21, or pledge more for bookplates, wooden pins, and more.

A physical copy of the webcomic i’ve been drawing for 3 years, 2 for Joy, published in full with all the bells and whistles.

We’ve got another webcomic-turned-print-comic this week with 2 for Joy: a story about a homecoming, a broken arm, and a few birds intent on leading Art Douglas somewhere else. The comic mad a home for itself on Tapas, and is available to read in its entirety there but – as Watson writes – “it would be better in print, everything.” The final product comes to 200-pages of full color art, plus an all-new mini comic exclusive to this edition.
