Welcome to the latest edition of The Beat‘s Comics Crowdfunding Round-Up! This week we’ve got a plethora of praiseworthy projects, ranging from hard-boiled crime drama to fantasy adventure to blood-soaked horror. Check out this week’s noteworthy projects below!

MOON EATERS

Creators: Victor Santos (writer/artist)
Goal: 18,000 €/~20,869.69

Goodies: Hardcover graphic novel in English or Spanish, prints, a storyboard booklet, commissioned artwork, and hand-drawn cover artwork on the inside of the dustjacket

Victor Santos is ready to once again delight the reader with a new Noir comic full of suspense, and, as usual, first-rate narrative quality.

Victor Santos is the Eisner-nominated creator of Polar, and the artist on projects including Filthy Rich and Violent Love. His new graphic novel follows Tommy, a recently-released convict, and June, a woman who connected with Tommy via a prison pen pals program, as they fight to survive against specters of Tommy’s former life. The book is available in English and Spanish, and well worth a look.

Time Shopper

Creators: Tony Fleecs (writer), Christian Meesey (artist), Tone Rodriguez (layout artist), Brad Simpson (colorist)

A time traveling, bargain shopping, history making graphic novel by Tony Fleecs and Christian Meesey

Time Shopper was originally slated to be published by Action Lab back in 2020, but the pandemic delayed the book’s arrival and Fleecs, Meesey, and co. have ultimately opted to crowdfund the project. Fleecs did an interview with The Beat about the book back when it was first announced, and it sounds like a lot of fun. The ‘historical artifacts’ as rewards for backing are also a really nice touch, and if you’ve got $5,000 to spare you can even get your own personalized story from the creators.

Cult of Dracula: Collected Edition

Creators: Rich Davis (writer), Puis Calzada (artist), Alex Zief (colorist), Dave Lentz (letterer), Source Point Press (publisher)

Goodies: Digital collection, deluxe hardcover editions of Cult of Dracula #1 and of the collection of the complete series, an enamel pin, original artwork, and a 30-minute chat with writer Rich Davis.

It’s October now, the annual spooky season, and what better way to celebrate than with an interesting twist on an old favorite. Cult of Dracula reimagines Bram Stoker‘s original creation as a Charles Manson-esque cult leader. A softcover collection of this series is available through Diamond from Source Point Press; this Kickstarter is for a limited-edition hardcover version of the collection.

The Nekros Year 1: Issues #1-4 of the Dark Fantasy Thriller

This fantasy series follows a young man on a quest to avenge the death of his father at the hands of a murderous demon known as The Nekros. The latest campaign is to fund printing and distribution of the third and fourth issues in the series.

Gravestown issue 1

A new horror fantasy series from Roger Gibson and Vincent Danks, the creators of Harker!

Here’s another horror project to support during this spooky season. The series blends vampire mythology with sci-fi and fantasy elements. All four issues of Gravestown have been fully produced, with a Kickstarter planned quarterly for printing of each issue. Also included as rewards are digital reprints of past work by Gibson and Danks, including a previous version of the first issue by Gibson and artist Mark Wayne Barrett from over twenty years ago.
