Dex Parios is officially coming to TV. Deadline reports that ABC has ordered to series the television adaptation of Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth, and Justin Greenwood’s Stumptown series. A pilot for the series was announced back in February, with Cobie Smulders cast in the lead role. According to Deadline, the title of the series may be changing, as the show is referred to as “Untitled Cobie Smulders.”
Stumptown follows the aforementioned Dex Parios (Smulders), a private investigator living in Portland, as she works cases, takes care of her brother, and generally tries to keep her life in order to varying degrees of success. The full cast for the series includes Tantoo Cardinal as Sue Lynn Blackbird, Cole Sibus as Ansel Parios, Adrian Martinez as Tookie, Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Cosgrove, and Michael Ealy as Det. Miles Hoffman.
The series order comes on the heels of another Greg Rucka-created character getting their own TV series. The CW announced late yesterday that the Ruby Rose-starring Batwoman, featuring the character co-created by Rucka and 52 co-writers Geoff Johns, Mark Waid, Grant Morrison, and Keith Giffen, has also been ordered to series.
No details yet on when the Stumptown adaptation will premiere, or what the finished product will be called.
