Although Bloodshot is full steam ahead, as we just reported, another comics-to-film project just got grounded. COWBOY NINJA VIKING, based on the A.J. Lieberman/Riley Rossmo comics series, was to be a star vehicle for Chris Pratt, but Universal has just put the film on an indefinite delay and pulled it from the planned june 26, 2019 release date.

According to THR, the film was already in production with Priyanka Chopra cast as the female lead, and a September start date in London set. BUT:

Sources say the project has suffered from script issues, and rumors of a shutdown have percolated since March. The pic was not an expensive gamble for the studio. Sources say it was in the $65 million range and looked at as a potential franchise starter. It was to have been helmed by Michelle MacLaren, the acclaimed television director who was to make her feature debut on the project.

OHHHH, first time female director. I guess it was just TOO RISKY and every other action movie has a perfect script. Right.

Pratt still has his Lego, Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises to tide him over though, so don’t cry for him.
