SelfMadeHero announces Spring 2015 line

0
And as the end of year lists circulate, Spring catalogs are also making 2015 all the closer. SelfMadeHero has announced their Spring 2015 line, some of which has been listed here before. In recent years, SelfMadeHero has distinguished itself for a line of graphic novels both visually stunning and emotionally compelling. This list sounds equally strong.

Comichron: October 2014 comics estimates online—Looking at the Loot Crate Effect

1
October smashed all comics records from the last decade-plus again, with a thousand new comic books, graphic novels, and magazines hitting the market. Based on Comichron's analysis of data released by Diamond Comic Distributors, comics shops in North America ordered more than $56 million in printed product during the month. Seven comic books had orders of more than 100,000 copies. Click to see the sales estimates for comics ordered in October 2014. Highlights of the month included Diamond's Halloween ComicFest, its fall counterpart to Free Comic Book Day — and topping the charts again, we have a comic book whose sales were greatly inflated by a single order from the pop culture subscription club, Loot Crate. Image's Walking Dead #132 far outdistanced other comic books offered in October, with estimated orders of more than 326,000 copies.

Chast leads Amazon’s Best Graphic Novels for 2014

1
Roz Chast continues her dominance of the end-of-year best graphic novel lists, by topping Amazon's list of the best graphic novels of the year. The books are selected by the Amazon editorial team, led by Sara Nelson, and ranked in order of sales (which is pretty interesting in and of itself.) Chast's book, a painful yet humorous look at the end of her parent's life—has already won the first Kirkus Award for non fiction, and been named to PW's Best Books list, and I suspect we may see it on a few more lists before the year is done. As of the moment, it's Amazon's #1 book in the "Parenting & Relationships > Aging Parents" category. So there.
