Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival reveals complete schedule

The Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival has announced all its programming and several satellite events, including a showing of rare films and two art openings. In addition Françoise Mouly has joined as a guest and will speak. How on earth are you supposed to run around and buy comics AND go to all these interesting panels?

Tonight and beyond: King Con

People who have recovered from New York Comic Con are gearing up for King Con, Brooklyn's home show. Tonight King Con kicks off at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Guests include Chris Claremont, Kyle Baker, Sarah Glidden, and more. The four-day schedule this year allows for two panels tonight, a party tomorrow, and two days of exhibits and panels Saturday and Sunday. We'll be moderating the Kids panel Sunday at 12:30.

Con Report: Pittsburgh Indy Comics Expo

Debuting during this busy weekend for comics, the Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo drew favorable Tweets. Jessica at Uncovered Space has a nice little write-up with some pictures, including this one of Frank Santoro and Kevin Huizenga. From the photos, it looks like a nice, well-lit venue, always a plus. The Birmingham Comics Expo was held this weekend, and if past events are any guide, participants should be waking up from their hangovers by Tuesday 9 am. Twitter reports were favorable; the big news seems to have been Jonathan Ross, who announced a new book with Tommy Lee Edwards (his TURF collaborator) called "The Golden Age."

This weekend, among a plethora of worldwide comics events, the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco is surely the premiere event for alt and indy comics. Headlined by Dan Clowes and Lynda Barry that's probably enough right there, but why stop -- other guests include Megan Kelso, Tony Millionaire, Renée French, Tommy Kovac, Rich Koslowski, and more. If it were less than a plane ride away, we'd be there in a heartbeat.
