Beware the Batman is one of 7 new series announced as yesterday's upfronts, and will feature Batman and a new-to-animation rogues gallery in what is billed as "cutting edge" CGI animation. Sam Register and Glenn Murakami are among the vets working on the show.

As we do every year, it's time to take a look at the five Animated Shorts in this year's Oscar race. Picking this obscure category is a key to winning your pool. First Look at the Plastic Man DC Nation cartoon shorts

The new Nerdist YouTube channel is hosting the first look at the Plastic Man shorts that will be airing shortly on DC Nation. As we reported earlier, Tom Kenny voices Plas, while Andy Suriano and Stephen DeStefano are involved in the animation—the John K. influence is strong but it works with the character.

Aardman's awesome DC Nation trailer

Okay this might just be the coolest comics-related promo of the year. Aardman Films, the claymation studio behind Wallace and Gromit, has made a promo piece for the DC Nation cartoon block debuting on the Cartoon Network later this year. It takes a conceit first used on their breakthrough film, CREATURE COMFORTS, which animated zoo goers comments on what the zoo animals might be thinking. In this case, they take kid's voicing various DC superheroes. The result is charming and fresh. If DC Nation has anything this good we're in for a treat.
