So, this month is a bit light. There are always some significant titles every month, so here's the list for January.

SCOOP! Toth biography expands to three volumes

0
Alex Toth fans rejoice. Dean Mullaney and Bruce Canwell's long-awaited book on Toth, including a biography and little seen art -- has expanded to a three volume, slip-cased edition, to be published by IDW. Toth's children, Dana and Eric, were consulted in the writing process and it promises to be a comprehensive, lavishly illustrated affair. The first volume, Genius Isolated, ships in March 2011 and spotlights his early work and life until the 60s. Genius, Illustrated follows his life in Animation, and Genius Animated includes little seen animation models and drawings. A slipcase will ship with the third volume.

Bob Schreck to start GN line for Legendary Pictures

0
Bob Schreck, one of the industry's best regarded editors, has left his position as Senior Editor at IDW to start a comics division for Legendary Pictures (not Entertainment, as the IDW release states), according to PR that just went out. The parting was amicable. Legendary Pictures, founded by Thomas Tull, has produced such films as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Hangover, Inception, and Where the Wild Things Are, so the connection to starting their own comics company is pretty obvious and Schreck is well qualified to start such an effort.

By Torsten Adair The following is a selection of new comics titles due to be published in October 2010. This list is not comprehensive, as there are over 275 books scheduled. These are just the titles which caught my eye. If you would like to browse forthcoming comic strip books at your leisure, click here. Instead, I have selected titles which caught my interest. These are not necessarily titles I will purchase, but which I will definitely look at once they arrive at my local comics shop or bookstore.

Angel joins pals back at Dark Horse

In recent years there has been great sadness in the Buffyverse -- and some hurt feelings among two of the biggest comics publishers -- that somehow the licenses for all the various Buffy spin-offs has been sundered from the main book. Angel and Spike have been most recently published by IDW, while the main Buffy saga has been continuing under Joss Whedon at Dark Horse to great acclaim and sales. But in the Riley one-shot released today, editor Scott Allie hinted that Angel would be coming back to the Horse, something every news-site picked up on. But evidently that was not how it was meant to be played out. Dark Horse has released a statement confirming that in 2011, Angel is coming back:
