20 Amazingly Integrated Comic Book Logo Illustrations via Comics Alliance

Homage! Mike Henderson mashes up some well known cartoon characters and the classic X-MEN #141 storyline for a piece he calls...Days of Future Pixar. There's a lot of other tasty stuff at Henderson's blog if you poke around a bit.

Speaking of Daniel Clowes, he drew a pretend comic book cover for PAUL, the movie about a space alien and Comic-Con. It's signed "Pussey", a reference to Dan Pussey, the cartoonist star of PUSSEY! We'd buy it.

Hey Mocca Attendees -- to anyone who is hanging around New York for a day or two afterwards, here are some things you might want to check out. New York is a greenhouse of comics-y/arty events and there are several good ones going on right now.

Apparently Rick Remender and Tom Fowler are teaming up on Marvel's VENOM comic...and it looks INSANE. More insanity in the link.

This week's Village Voice is the Cartoon issue, to tie in to MoCCA Fest, and regular Voice contributor Ward Sutton has done the cover. Sutton is known for his ability to mimic other art styles, but this time, we do believe he's topped himself -- esp. with Marlys Wonder Woman and Rusty Brown Bumstead. BUT...see next item.

You can meet Bruce Timm, Craig Elliott, Jim Silke and William Stout at the FLESK booth and get some debuting art books as well.

Voting in the 2011 Inkwell Awards, honoring the best in the art of inking, has just been opened. The nominees are below; the awards will be presented...well, the PR doesn't really say. There are some amusing categories below -- Klaus Janson needs more attention and Todd McFarlane is small press -- but giving the hard working inkers of the world some props is always a good thing.

Friday night's opening fro the R. Crumb exhibit at the Society of Illustrators in NYC, was -- no surprise -- jammed to the rafters with the who's who of the local scene. The man himself was on the premises but the notoriously shy cartoonist sat with Aline at a back table where only a few came to pay homage.

Regular Reason magazine contributor Peter Bagge does this month's cover, featuring education reformer Michelle Rhee. Pete was kind enough to send us the cover sans type.
