SD11: John Higgins offers exclusive WATCHMEN portfolio
Artist John Higgins is a crucial member of the Watchmen team -- he colored the original and the remastered Absolute edition. To mark 25 years of Watchmen -- and his appearance as part of the con's year of the Brit -- Higgins is releasing a limited edition Watchmen portfolio exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
Laika: The alternate endings
To help them celebrate their 25th Anniversary, metro Washington DC-based comics shop chain Big Planet commissioned cartoonist Nick Abadzis to create “The Alternative Endings to Laika Show” . As you may recall. Abadzis's graphic novel LAIKA concerns the true like story of the Russian pooch who was shot into space in 1957...never to return, making her the space race version of Old Yeller. Jeffrey Catherine Jones film preview to screen at San Diego
At the time of her death in May, artist Jeffrey Catherine Jones was the subject of an upcoming documentary, Better Things. Director/producer Maria Cabardo writes to tell us that several minutes of footage will be shown at a panel at Comic-Con:

Remembering Gene Colan
Over the weekend, remembrances, and tributes continued to flow for Gene "The Dean" Colan, who died on Thursday.
The most complete obituary we have is Tom Field's at TCJ, which cover his entire career, the triumphs, the problems with editors, and the artist's early embrace of the internet. While beloved of some writers and editors, Colan's style was not a natural for Marvel:
